Dear President Obama,
My name is Scott Scarborough. I am a micro-business
owner of an audio-video events services company in
Mesa, Arizona. During all of 2008 my business took
a tremendous hit. I dug deep into my pockets to pay
the monthly trucking payment I had with Ford Credit.
Throughout last year, I had extremely poor customer
service with Ford Credit. I loved my vehicle and the
local dealer was really great to work with, but Ford
Motor Credit was horrible. I had an 11-hundred-dollar
monthly payment and I fell short in 4th quarter 2008.
Ford Credit repossessed my truck and held all of
my equipment I needed to operate my business for
over a month. When Ford Credit decided I could not
reinstate my loan, and they would not give me time
to refinance or secure another loan to pay their loan,
they sold my vehicle. The local company who
held the truck treated me very poorly. They insulted
me and tricked me and made me feel like I was worthless.
It took four visits from my local police department to
recover my gear. They rifled the vehicle and damaged
some gear. I hope my story can help another small
business owner and prevent this from happening to
someone else who has a small business vehicle loan.
To this date, Ford Credit is asking me for nearly 30-
thousand-dollars after I paid 12-thousand-dollars in
13 months and they sold my truck for less than 17-thousand
-dollars. I am willing to pay Ford Credit 2-thousand-
dollars if they will settle this account and I can go on
to continue serving local junior high and high schools
without this looming debt. I would appreciate any
help someone within your staff can do to reach these
people and let them know that the little guys with small
business accounts can not be treated badly.
Thank you for taking a moment out of your busy schedule
and deligating this task to the appropriate person on
your staff.
Sincerely yours,
Scott Scarborough
